개교 76년의 전통이 빛나는 우리 국립강릉원주대학교는 자유 · 진리 · 창조의 건학 이념 아래 2007년 강릉대학교와 원주대학이 통합하여 현재 강릉과 원주에 각각 캠퍼스를 두고 있으며, 380여 명의 교수진, 300여 명의 직원, 8,000여 명의 재학생이 혼연일체 되어 중부권 핵심대학으로 발돋움하고 있습니다.

우리 대학은 끊임없는 구조개혁과 혁신을 통해 대학교육협의회에서 발표하는‘2021년 28개 국·공립대학교 주요 공시지표’중에서 전임교원 1인당 저역서 실적 1위, 전임교원 1인당 학생수 9위, 기숙사 수용률 11위, 학생 1인당 장서수 6위, 전임교원 확보율 11위에 기록 되는 등 내실을 기하며 알차게 발전하는 대학입니다.

맞춤형 산학협력을 통해 지역 발전과 인재 양성을 선도하고 있습니다.

2012년부터 5년차 사업인 산학협력선도대학육성사업단을 성공적으로 운영하였고, 2017년부터 그 후속사업인 사회맞춤형산학협력선도대학사업단(LINC+)을 운영하고 있습니다. 2012년부터 10년간 재정지원을 받는 2단계 공학교육혁신센터 지원 사업에 선정되어 운영 중이며, 2021년도에는 국립대학육성사업 국내 유일 9년 연속‘최우수 A’등급 달성과 대학혁신지원사업‘최우수 대학’에 선정되는 성과를 거두었습니다. 특히 2021년 3주기 대학기본역량진단에서 자율지원대학으로 선정되어 2024년까지 연평균 48억3천만 원의 정부재정지원을 확보하였습니다. 이를 통해 우리 대학교는 산학협력 강화와 최적화된 교육환경을 제공하여 지역 산학협력을 선도하고 사회가 요구하는 맞춤형 인재를 양성하고 있습니다.

With a strong foundation from 76 years of history and traditions and in line with our freedom, truth, and creativity motto, Gangneung-Wonju National University is developing into a competitive university. There are two campuses in Gangneung and Wonju, including 380 faculty members, 300 employees, and 8,000 students, all cooperating together. With the unification between Gangneung and Wonju University in 2007, we have leaped forward as a leading university in the central region of Korea that goes beyond the eastern sea area.

We continuously innovate education to build an advanced national university.

GWNU earned its reputation by ranking 1th place for publication and translation on a per full-time faculty member basis, 9th place for student-to-full time faculty member ratio, for 11th on-campus housing capacity, and for books on a per-student basis, and 6th place for securing full-time faculty positions among the 28 major universities in the 2021 National and Public Universities Major Public Indicators, as announced by the University Education Council.

We enhance regional development and human resource cultivation by solid university-industry cooperation.

We have successfully achieved (5 years in a row) the Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation (LINC+) since 2012. We have been operating the LINC+ project since 2017. Moreover, we have received government funds for the 2nd phase of the Engineering Education Innovation Center for over 10 years since 2012. Also, we have been selected for the National University Development Project 7 years in a row. In 2021, GWNU was chosen as a self-improvement university from the University Basic Competency Evaluation. These have been made to expand industry-university cooperation and to receive 4 billion won for financial independence until 2024, and have enhanced students′ learning experience.

We foster outstanding individuals, known as "Haeramin", through creative academic studies and human respect education.
