Kongju National University started as
Kongju Teacher’s College in 1948 and became the only
comprehensive university in Chungcheongnam-do in 1991. It is now the 9th
largest among national and public universities in Korea (based on the number of
freshmen) and has campuses in Gongju, Yesan, Cheonan and Sejong. There are
about 15,000 students at Kongju National University, and the entire faculty and
staff are doing their best for them. Kongju National University is growing into
a major university representing Chungnam and Sejong regions. The Kongju campus
is located about 10 minutes away from the Government Complex. To help the
development of Gongju and Sejong City, five colleges are being operated on this
campus (College of Education, College of Humanities and Social Sciences,
College of Natural Sciences, College of Nursing & Health, and College of
Art). In addition, in the North Chungnam Industrial Belt, the College of
Engineering on the Cheonan Campus is developing together with local industries.
Finally, in Naepo-Yesan, where the
provincial government is located, the Yesan campus, which specialises in the
agricultural-fishery-food field, is leading the future industry of the West Sea
region. Kongju National University has the educational philosophy of search for
